Dear Fifth Grade Families,
Welcome to the fifth grade class of 2020! We are looking forward to a wonderful year and getting to know you and your children. We would like to explain how we will do school supplies as we look forward to the new year.

We have a shared community of supplies in our classrooms and keep the supplies stored in central locations. Instead of parents purchasing all the individual supplies, we will be purchasing most of them for you.  However, you are responsible for:

  • 5 composition journals which go on sale usually for .50 cents or so each.  No spirals!
  • Sticky Notes for our new literacy curriculum.
  • Cash or check made out to Maplewood for $45 in an envelope, clearly labeled with your child’s name. This will cover the cost of the remainder of the supplies. Part of the money also covers classroom party expenses and subscriptions for your student. This does NOT include any field trips or overnights.
  • (If this amount is a hardship, please let us know and we can arrange for a supply scholarship.)
  • Their own PENCILS ALL YEAR: Preferably #2 Ticonderoga.
  • And of course, their own WATER BOTTLE with their name clearly marked. We DO NOT keep cups in our classroom and can not, as of yet, drink out of our water fountain.
We’d also be super thankful for:

Box(es) of tissues
Disinfectant wipes
More sticky notes!

Thank you and enjoy your summer!

  1. Can you be more specific on the sticky notes? Would you like page flags, 1.5"x1.5", other?

    1. We are asking for the typical 3x3 typically yellow business-like sticky notes. Thanks for asking!
